April update - and a request.
It’s been a busy few months, as I’m hoping you can see from the pictures! The interior of the brand new Wildcat is pretty much complete, and in my opinion it’s looking fantastic. Work on the exterior will be completed over the next few days (hopefully you like the signage!), and I’ve got my fingers crossed for an opening at some point in mid May.
But it’s not all plain sailing. The building was in a spectacularly poor condition when I took it on, and although everything’s been stripped back and practically rebuilt, we found a lot of issues during the work which took up additional time and money. Some funding also fell through at a pretty inopportune time. Anyway, the upshot of this all is that I find myself short of a bit of cash to finish everything off and actually get the doors open within a reasonable timescale.
So basically I’d like to ask for your help to get this over the line.
If you know me, you’ll know that I have mixed feelings when it comes to crowdfunding. As a concept, it’s never quite sat comfortably with me. The rewards system is sometimes flawed and I think the big players who provide the platforms take too much money and take too long to pay out (although I suppose that’s par for the course nowadays). And, most importantly, I don’t want to be in a video!
But I’ve seen several campaigns which I think are genuinely good, and that I’ve supported myself - that’s kind of what I want to achieve here. So all I’m asking is that if you think you’ll spend some money in the new bar once it’s up and running then you’ll consider spending a portion of that now, in the form of credit which will be redeemable on opening. In return for this I’ll add a percentage of your purchase on as free credit. Buy a £15, £25 or £50 voucher and I’ll add on 10% as a thank you. If you can afford £100 then I’ll up that to 15%.
Hopefully that seems fair. I get cash I need to finish off and open as soon as possible, you get a drink or two on me. If so, and you’d like to help get the Wildcat up and running sooner rather than later, please head over to the ‘Vouchers’ page.
Cheers! See you soon.
